Hertford and Stortford MP Julie Marson has taken part in a cross-party visit to Washington DC to meet with American politicians and government officials.
Ms Marson joined the delegation organised by the British American Parliamentary Group. It was hosted by the British Embassy in Washington and Members of Congress.
The party met with members of Congress and also with Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.
There were also meetings with various government departments, including the State Department and the Department of Labour, with Ukraine top of the agenda.
Other topics covered during the visit included trade, sanctions, relations with China and post-pandemic supply chain issues.
“This was a busy visit full of meetings where we were able to talk through a variety of important issues for both our countries with our American counterparts,” said Mrs Marson.
“The United States remains our closest ally and the world’s superpower. It was important MPs from across the house were able to gauge the thinking of its politicians and officials during such challenging times for the world.
“I would like to thank the British Ambassador to the United States Dame Karen Pierce for her hospitality and for the warm welcome we received on Capitol Hill.”
