Hertford and Stortford MP Julie Marson has delivered 300 more books to local primary schools after she won them in a competition.
Mrs Marson successfully entered a draw by the Publishers Association on World Book Day to win 600 books for her schools.
On Friday she delivered 100 books each to Hertford St Andrew C of E Primary School in Hertford and St Mary’s Junior School and Hunsdon School in Ware.
The range of titles will go into the schools’ class libraries for pupils to enjoy. The first tranche of 200 fiction titles was given to Avanti Meadows Primary School in Bishop’s Stortford and Fawbert and Barnard Infants’ School in Sawbridgeworth last month.
“I was really pleased to go into these three schools and deliver a second tranche of books that will bring enjoyment to young minds for years to come,” said Mrs Marson.
“I know teachers and students will put them to good use. Reading is a vital skill and I know these books will help foster that love of learning to read that is so important to all of us.”
Ross Jones, Headteacher of Hertford St Andrew said: "A huge thank you to Julie Marson for the wonderful donation of extra World Book Day books to our school. “The children are looking forward to adding these to their class libraries to aid with our drive to develop the love of reading across the school."
Hunsdon Head Jon Millward said: "Many thanks to Julie for her generous donation of books. As well as being an essential tool for everyday life, reading allows us to discover the world.
“Your books are a very welcome addition to our school. Many thanks from us all at Hunsdon."
