The Treasury Committee is made up of 11 MPs from the main political parties.
Having joined Parliament in 2019, Julie was thrilled to have been elected by her colleagues to join the Treasury Committee. Putting business and the economy at the front of the agenda, Julie is using her expertise after a 17-year career in finance. In this role, she holds the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, and other Treasury Ministers to account, as well as many public and private organisations and bodies.
At the moment, the Treasury Committee is doing an inquiry into the economic impact of coronavirus.
On Monday 4th May, Julie questioned Anne Boden, CEO of Starling Bank, about the digital processes involved with the new loan schemes, and whether too much information is being asked of businesses for the Bounce Back Loan Scheme. Julie also asked Paul Thwaite, CEO of Commercial Banking at the Royal Bank of Scotland, whether he had concerns regarding the debt small companies are taking on during the crisis.
