Earlier today (5 February), Julie Marson, MP for Hertford and Stortford, hosted an Introduction to Government & Politics Lecture for 110 school staff and students in her constituency.
Students and staff from seven schools joined Julie’s Zoom call where they learned about how the executive and legislative branches of government are formed as consequences of elections before the local MP analysed this relationship.
Julie ended the lecture with a question-and-answer session where she was asked questions on issues such as the constitution, the Government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic and how Julie became an MP.
Speaking after the lecture, Julie said:
“School staff are under a huge amount of pressure at the moment and I am very thankful for all their efforts.
“I wanted to help in some way and hosting this lecture was a unique opportunity that would have been more difficult to host in normal times.
“This inter-school discussion was great to be able to facilitate and I hope that staff and students alike benefitted.”
Education continues to be a priority of Julie’s and the call followed news this morning that Pinewood School in Ware is set to be one of 50 schools in England to benefit from the School Rebuilding Programme.
