I had the privilege of attending and speaking at the 2023 Net Zero Conference, jointly hosted by the East of England Local Government Association (EELGA) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). This event served as a platform for MPs, council leaders, and private sector representatives to come together and address critical issues such as securing investments for Net Zero initiatives, fostering innovation, reducing emissions in freight and aviation, and expanding electric vehicle infrastructure.
During the conference, Amanda Solloway MP, Minister for Energy Consumers and Affordability, underscored the significance of our region in the sustainability agenda, emphasizing the urgency of our actions. Commitments were made to maintain the momentum towards Net Zero goals, reflecting our unique position as a region with shared commitments from both the public and private sectors. We prioritised cleaner transportation with the aim of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040. Stansted Airport, in alignment with this vision, is dedicated to sustainable growth and aims to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050.
I take great pride in representing our constituency at this event, showcasing our unwavering commitment to sustainability. I will continue to advocate for policies and initiatives that align with our shared goal of creating a greener and more sustainable future for the East of England.
