I have made it very clear that I have been appalled by the reported behaviour at 10 Downing Street and I share the anger of my constituents, who have made many sacrifices during the pandemic.
In Parliament yesterday, the Prime Minister apologised again and committed himself to a root and branch overhaul of how Downing Street operates.
He again took full responsibility for the findings in Sue Gray’s report and he accepted them. I welcome this and his apology to Parliament.
There is an ongoing police investigation, which will report at some point and I would like to see the findings published in full.
Until then, I believe this country has many pressing concerns that need addressing. There is the threat of war in Ukraine and the cost of living is a big worry for many families in Hertford and Stortford, and up and down the country.
I would now like to see the Prime Minister concentrate on these concerns and the challenge of levelling up the country.
Boris Johnson has proven himself to be more than able to deal with major issues such as Brexit and the Covid pandemic.
He remains as committed as ever to achieving positive change for the UK. In that incredibly important endeavour, he has my full support and I remain committed to serving my constituents on the important local issues that matter to them.
