In Westminster this month, President Zekenskyy gave an historic address to Parliament. He spoke about the unbreakable ties between our nations and our joint determination to defeat evil and invasion. It was incredibly moving and an honour to witness such a momentous and historic event.
Back in Hertford and Stortford, there were lots of other important events going on too. I held a roundtable for local businesses to discuss their challenges and look and what I could do to help. I took lots of notes away from the session and raised their concerns on with the relevant people. I remain available to them and all other local businesses for support in the meantime - please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
I also met with the Leader of East Herts Council, Linda Haysey. We discussed lots of the most pressing issues facing our community at the moment, such as local funding and housing developments. These meetings are also always a good way for me to relay individual constituents’ casework concerns directly to the Council. I am pleased there were so many action points as a result.
SEND provision in Hertfordshire remains historically underfunded. This is a problem constituents have consistently raised with me since my election, and something that remains top of my agenda. I met with the SEND Minister, Claire Coutinho MP, recently to discuss it. A range of different options for people in Hertfordshire are now being assessed as a result and I continue to push for the best possible outcome.
