Julie Marson, MP for Hertford and Stortford, has today met with Thomas Delgado, CEO of Pollution Solution, and his team to discuss the possibility of getting a Roadvent installed at the Hockerill Lights in Bishop’s Stortford.
Pollution Solution is a company based in Hertford that innovates technology to reduce human exposure to road-based air pollution. Their Roadvent innovation draws in vehicle pollution and car fumes which are filtered on site. Independent testing has shown that the Roadvent reduces exposure to vehicle-based air pollution at the roadside by 91%.
Julie has identified the Roadvent as a potential measure that could be installed at the Hockerill Lights in Bishop’s Stortford, one of the worst areas in her constituency for air pollution. She has worked with Hertfordshire County Council and Pollution Solution to propose a trial of the system at site.
Speaking after the meeting, Julie said:
“The Roadvent is ingenious. It was a pleasure to learn more about its efficacy with Thomas and his team. I am very grateful to them.
“I am hopeful for the Roadvent’s potential to significantly reduce air pollution at the Hockerill Lights. I will push for the trial to take place as soon as possible.
“The Hockerill Lights is not the only site with poor air quality levels in our area. As such, I will look at other sites to assess their air quality needs too.”
Commenting, Thomas Delgado added:
“My team and I are looking forward to creating a healthier environment for the community of Bishop’s Stortford, by cleaning up the air with our Roadvent technology.”
“We are very grateful for the fantastic work both Julie and the Hertfordshire County Council team are doing to deliver clean air at such a prominent location that will benefit local residents and pedestrians.”
“Roadvent is an infrastructure solution dedicated to improving public health by reducing people’s exposure to air pollution, resulting in far-reaching health, social, environmental and economic benefits.”
The meeting follows a discussion Julie had with County Council Leader Richard Roberts at the Hockerill Lights site in November 2022.
Julie has committed to continue working on her campaign to improve the local environment.
